Dr. Hannah Morrissette is a coastal biogeochemist at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center with experience in tidal wetland research, conservation, and restoration. She has led the field, laboratory, and data integration efforts for mangrove blue carbon and monitoring in the Latin America and Caribbean region, aimed at evaluating coastal ecosystems on a holistic level. She prioritizes the building of local capacity through in-field training, data dissemination, and scientific communication, and co-develops projects within the region to provide directly applicable data to stakeholders to inform coastal protection policies and strategies.
