Jorge Herrera Silveira
Jorge is a biologist, Professor at the Research Center (CINVESTAV-Mexico), member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences, Scientific Coordinator of the Mexican Carbon Program, member of the National Wetlands Committee, scientific advisor to UNESCO. His research areas are: structure and function of tropical ecosystems and indicators of their health condition. Jorge studies water quality, trophic status, phytoplankton and harmful algal blooms, blue carbon (mangroves and seagrasses), mangrove restoration, climate change, mitigation, ecosystem-based adaptation, nature-based solutions, and vulnerability reduction of socio-ecosystems.
